This kind of bleeding (breakthrough bleeding-which is bleeding that can act a lot like a period but isn't) can be the result of an infection such as with the cervix for some women as well as things like fibroids and even polyps in the cervix. Other possibility that can cause this kind of bleeding is a hormone imbalance.

I would recommend getting back in touch with your doctor to let them know how concerned you are about the bleeding. In the mean time to try and help ease some of this you may find that eating things rich in iron such as spinach, raisins, and peanut butter (if not allergic to peanuts of course) can help slow some of this bleeding down.

As for your pap smear the results should be back in either later this week or some time next week (it can take 1-2 weeks for the results to come back).

The next step would be to have an ultrasound done to check for fibroids or polyps of the uterus.

I wish you all the best.

... glad that you're getting an ultrasound done. This is to check for fibroids or polyps, both of which can cause abnormal bleeding in women. No need to worry. I have a history of both, and have had them removed a few times.

routinely hormones are simply out of whack however bleeding for a entire month is regularly no longer healthful for you even supposing it isnt a heavy float. I might return to the healthcare professional and inform him/her what has occurred. if some thing you probably anemic and ought to take a few iron tablets to aid change the iron to your blood. wish this is helping :)
