okay, so do Americans EVER use the "humour" spelling??

Humour....I believe both are correct depending on what country you are in.

EDIT~I'm an American and I spell it humour...but I was schooled in Germany for a while so I have always spelled things the European way.

I spell it 'humour' because I am an Australia, and that is how it is spelled here.

Americans would spell it 'humor' because their particular version of English drops the 'u' our of many words (like colour and honour)
