Ok I'm confused.
Indiana allows us to apply for a ccw license at the age of 18 - but I heard you can't actually purchase a hand gun until the age of 21????

If thats the case, do you have to have a license in order to purchase a hand gun? or do they just do a background check before u purchase it?

If its a private sale - like off the internet from someone in another state - the gun has to be shipped to an FFL license holder....does the age limit still apply? I wouldn't see why it would....

In Indiana you do not need a license to purchase a handgun. You need money, an ID, be at least 21 years old and okayed by NICS. To carry a handgun (loaded, unloaded, concealed, open carry, in vehicle, etc) you need a License to Carry a Handgun (LTCH). There are a few exceptions like from place of purchase to residence, residence to fixed place of business. Don't believe me read the Indiana Code!

Federal law restricts sale of a handgun to 21 and over.

Our old friends at the Brady campaign have a short description of laws...plus they rate the state with a "D"
so it can't be all bad.
