Do you ever feel that you might have been more successful, happier, more at ease if you'd been born in another time or place? Do you believe in reincarnation, and, if so, do you think that one can "direct" or influence the circumstances of their next life?

My question about reincarnation was really a "side" question, but I think if you look at nature (on earth) there are clear signs that things are naturally recycled to become other things, or support other things...if God designed this, then why wouldn't it follow that humans and/or their sould would be "recycled"?

The past is always with us.
Our ancestors are always with us.
Everything is recorded in the book of life.
Time is now.

No darlin I'm really happy when and where I was born and sometimes I ask God "Why was I born in such a rich land with so much" ?
I don't believe in reincarnation I believe we die once and that's it. In this life we have a hundred opportunities to get it right every day. That's over three hundred and fifty thousand opportunities a year. We don't need to go through this a second or third time.
When we die, our souls leave this husk and we stand before God with evil as our prosecutor. The only viable defence we will have is the Christ. Make your decisions in the here and now on His salvation, the dead cannot do so.

It is unwise to try to "direct" a future life (one doesn't outthink God).
"The Reincarnation of Edgar Cayce?", Free and Wilcock, is a good example of this. Http://www.divinecosmos.com is a related website.
"Life before Life," Tucker, M.D., "Entering the Circle," Kharitidi, M.D., "Education Begins before Birth," O. M. Aivanhov, "Babies Remember Birth," Chamberlain, Ph.D., "Extraordinary Knowing," Mayer, Ph.D., "Expecting Adam," Martha Beck (a great book), "Men in White Apparel," Ann Ree Colton, "Climb the Highest Mountain," Mark Prophet, are some worthwhile reads along the lines you probably intuit. "Reborn in the West: The Reincarnation Masters," Vicki MacKenzie, "Autobiography of a Yogi," Yogananda, http://www.yogananda-srf.org "Beyond the Ashes: Cases of Reincarnation from the Holocaust," Rabbi Yonassan Gershom, are other worthwhile volumes.
cordially,
j.
Http://www.coasttocoastam.com radio has occasional guests on this topic; Thursday, http://www.seandavidmorton.com will guest, worthwhile.

No. I was born in the right place and time. I am not that successful in career, lovelife and family and still aiming for more. I am happy and satisfied though not yet content. I've decided to see life behind the imperfections...and I am happy not bacause everything is quite alright but because I'm doing just fine when everything sucks... I believe in reincarnation and I believe in God. We are reincarnated in God's will.

I sometimes wish I had been born a few centuries or millenia into the future; the time I live in now is a bit too primitive for my liking. Not just technologically but as a species, we still have a bit of growing up to do. I'm confident that our descendants (or a more advanced offshoot of them) will eventually outgrow the need for governments and religions, though not anytime soon.
Reincarnation is just another human mythology like heaven & hell, and has too many logical contradictions and metaphysical problems to have any chance at being real.

I believe in reincarnation, Because, My grand father is reincarnated as myself.
My grand father was poet, and I am also doing poetry, My grand father has told to my father, That he will be reincarnating in his home again, to pay off back his great servile and attentive obsequious service to my grand father while he suffered from cancer.
If I can again redirect my birth in future, Then i would like again to come to this earth, Before the period of it's distortion, At the time of ruin of earth , I want to see that circumstances, In which Earth will be destroy, And what will be the next option of lively hood for mankind.

I do believe in reincarnation, and do believe that the quality of rebirth is determined by karma (or my own actions). I therefor do believe that i have been born in different times, places and circumstances; and can control the circumstances of my next rebirth in my next life.
Scary thought is it not: My own difficulty is the result of my own actions, and I cannot blame it on some mythical god or demon?

I wish I was born in ancient Greece at the time of Socrates and met him. Just to talk to him and become one of his pupils, since philosophy is one of my side passions. Of course this is just wishful thinking and I'm stuck with my books... :(

Wanting to have been born in a past time is because you feel you can have more control over what has already happened. It's an illusion though, because if you had been born then, you would be in the same position as the present.
