It is understandable that seeing gay people kiss or marry makes you feel odd. Personally, when I see straight people kiss I just don't "get it" because that is not what I can empathize with.

But gay/lesbian people don't usually have this problem as much, because straight is obviously presented as 'normal' and so we are used to seeing people do stuff that we wouldn't. And of all people, we are the ones to accept that not everyone is the same!

But just because straight people wouldn't do it doesn't mean they can deny us the same rights. I wouldn't ever kiss or marry a guy, but I don't complain when other people do.

So that's a yes to gay marriage. Or civil unions and no other discrimination at least!

I am gay. My partner and I have been together for many years. We would like to marry, but the laws in our state do not allow it. Why should be de denied equal treatment under the law? We pay our taxes and we are good citizens.

As to people, gay or straight, making out in public, I think this is something that people should confine to a more private location like home.

People are mean to us because they see us a some kind of threat to their way of life. There's not a shred of proof that gays are a threat to anything or anybody. These people are just plan ignorant and don't seem to want to take the time to learn how to be human beings.

I don't think gays should marry. Their lifestlye is one of no consequences. They like to be free and easy. That's why they are gay. Gays are only in love with people they are sexually attracted to. When that attraction is over they move on. They don't want commitment because they would have to be like normal hetero couples. The divorce laws would have to rewritten. Who would be the husband, who would be the wife. Who would get custody of the children? Who pays child support? It's a fact that women are worse non custodial parents than men. Would gay men be able to get wic? Gay men determined the female would have to get all the state benefits of single straight moms. So it's not only a moral issue it's a judicial nightmare.
I don't hate gays or lesbians. They wanted to be left alone to do what they wanted in the privacy of their bedrooms. Keep it that way. Stop asking for more.

Well ,
that's a tuff one to answer usually with out making someone mad! I don't think that anyone should make fun of gays by no-means that's for sure! but i believe in god,and the bible says you are not to do that. Do i hate people that are gay?No i don't what ever is there preference is there business! God lets everyone make there own choices on earth. It's not up to us to judge anyone!Let's leave that up to him.I do how ever think that they should keep there actions in private, just for the simple reason ,that they may think its OK and that's fine but most of the straight community would rather not see it.you love everyone no matter who they are,but it doesn't mean you have to except what they do!By the way my sister is gay,and i will never understand why but i will always love her no matter what.god still loves me no matter what! Doesn't mean i agree with her life stile, but god doesn't always agree with mine either! I hope that helped you out,and it was not meant to offend anyone out there so i hope i didn't?

In return, I have some questions for you... How would your life be impacted if two people of the same sex get married? Would you still be able to date who you want? Would you still be able to go shopping? Would you still be able to finish high school and graduate a university with a degree? Would you still be able to get married yourself, own a home, and raise a family?

If you answered 'YES' to the above, then what does it really matter to anyone else?

Thanks for the question. ;-)

People used to "wig" when they saw inter-racial couples, and now have gotten a bit wiser. There is hope yet. :)

PS - if you wig when you see gay couples actually BE gay couples, you do actually mind. Perhaps you are not as open-minded as you thought. Good for you for trying though.

once you get out of school, your life will be so focused on YOU that you will not have to worry about this issue. the reason why gay's want to marry is because they want to get health insurance,be able to adopt children, buy homes together, share bank accts, ect. If it makes them happy then let them do it. We do not have to answer for them in Heaven or Hell, so dont sweat it, sweetie.

Well I'm glad you don't mind me too much. If you don't want to see me kissing don't walk into my bedroom at night.

One day equal rights will be given to all people in America. And when that day comes I will be french kissing my boyfriend in the middle of the Mall of America. So make sure you don't shopping that day.
