God hasn't commanded us to do anything that isn't in our own best interest. The only difference is we would rather enjoy the present at the expense of eternity, and God whats us to sacrifice things now for everlasting happiness.

Yes we must think through our thoughts carefully the problem is that people want instant gratification but we must be close to God...................
and in doing so we will see our true calling and out life will go on the path to where our soul orginally started with God.....
I try and do the right thing and as a human I am not perfect I have many imperfections.................
Key is that I am aware of it and so is God and he still loves me anyway ...................

You are much too limited. I don't believe in any god, fortunately, since I would never care about pleasing one.
Questions of conscience aren't necessarily either/or. This is the philosophy section and we all should see things in gray, my favorite color.
I have a very easy, flexible conscience, but when it is asked a question it always answers; usually, but not always, the answer that I want.

Everything you do, do it moderately. You do not have to choose between pleasing God or yourself. You are already God, you just have to become human!

What we think is right. Knowing that a desire is selfish puts you ahead of the game. Do right, and let it burn.

Yep, I agree with you. Its tough not to be selfish, but thats why Jesus died for us, so we could make our own discions, and to face the consequences.
