This is a quote from Mao Tse-tung (new transliteration is Ze-dong), the father of the Chinese revolution. It is the usual cynical stuff that "proceeds" (or is excreted) from Marxism. Birds of a feather stick together. Weak people always yearn for power. But there's always somebody MORE powerful, isnt it obvious? And he's gonna do the damage, dont you see? That's why Jesus said, Those who live by the sword, DIE by the sword. "Come unto me, all you who suffer and yearn in silence. I will give you peace."

Ask the National Rifle Association.
Americans believe in guns and follow Jesus at the same time (and they aren't the best Karl Marx fans!)

Right on, brother. As Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. phrased it, violence is "a descending spiral," begetting only more violence.
I believe Mao wrote this statement (or something close to it, roughly translated) in his "Little Red Book" as a revolutionary against Chiang Kai-Shek in the Chinese Civil War.
But I'm not sure that Jesus would have disapproved of all that Mao championed, particularly his emphasis on non-materialism. In addition to being a revolutionary, Mao was a poet, a calligrapher, and a hero of farmers and peasants. Being something of a revolutionary himself, Jesus--who tossed the money changers out of the temple in Jerusalem and openly criticized his society's moneyed elite, the Pharisees--might have seen eye-to-eye on a lot of things with Chairman Mao, including a mutual disdain for the harsh excesses of unchecked capitalism.

No, the power to give life or take it comes from Jesus Christ, The gun will only fire if God permits it too, no one dies unless God allows it.
