Okay, so what exactly is your "problem?" So people not from the Philippines don't know about Filipinos. How does this become a "problem" for you?
BTW, People in Miami are not known as "south americans." South America is below Mexico. You should phrase it as "Americans from the south."

I am a South American and I know that "filipinos" are (most of them) Catholics and have Spanish last names. Maybe most South Americans do not know it, what about filipinos, do they know everything about South America?

I think you don't. Miami is inhabited mostly by Cubans, and Cubans are not South Americans. Actually Miami is inhabited by Americans of Cuban ancestry, not by Cubans.

They probably just don't care. Many of us in Canada and the U.S. are often caught off guard when problems develope in other places around the world. Often we have to check our atlas to see where these countries are. Many can't associate a county with it's religious majority. I think many of us are just busy trying to just survive and don't bother with what's going on in the world today. Just because you speak spanish, does not mean you are necessarily a catholic. Adolf Hitler was born a catholic but spoke German. What is the religious majority of Germany? If I cared or was interested, I would find out....most just don't. You know what and whom you are, and that is all that matters Be tolerant of others, that is what a catholic does. It's only a problem if you make it one.
