Read the highlander series by Diana Gabaldon. Be sure you get the hardback books so that nothing is left out and there is a companion book that shows you a lot of places where the story takes place. I'm not a romance reader but these do have an excellent historic background. You will just fall in love with everyone. The story line very briefly is about a nurse from WWII who tries to recover her marriage after the separation of the war by going to Scotland for a vacation with her husband. She falls through the stones and ends up in the 1700's and it just goes from there. If you thought you had the fever, this will just make it worse but you will love the adventure and you will fall in love with Jamie-a 17th century Scotsman. Be prepared to read-each book is well over a 1000 pages and there are five novels. At least you won't have to wait for the next book and you will be sorry when you finish. Diana Gabaldon just leaves you wanting more to read. I'd love to tell you more but don't want to ruin the story line for you.
