I remember back in the late 70's a lot of guys moved to Alaska to build the Alaskan Pipe line.My Husband at the time actaully considered going for 6 months. Recently I heard that it was rusty and leaking in places..OMG! Why don't we use that in times like this when the oil is sky high? I mean when are we going to say enough is enough...Bush, Cheney... et al are getting rich on this...

Gary B: So are you telling us that we are using some of our own oil from the Alaskan Pipe line or just pumping in foreign oil?
I wish to know why we aren't using ours.

Bush and Cheney have investments in the oil business and Bush Sr or maybe Bush Jr. have been in business with the BiLaden Family for many years.

I get all sorts of lies repeated to me about oil. In 1926 it cost 11 cents to pump one barrel of oil and 76 cents to process one gallon of gasoline. Today: It costs 11 cents to pump a barrel of oil and with technology 18 cents to process one gallon of gasoline. In recent studies, in Popular Science magazine, in Science Technology they have invented a machine that can process one barrel of oil out of shale in the Rocky Mts. easier than pumping a barrel out of the ground. It has been estimated in many places by many many people that there is enough oil in the Rocky Mts. shale to last, no matter the population rise until the year 3,000. So why are we still paying almost $4 per gallon at the pump. It is because the politicians are getting huge kickbacks from the oil companies. In 2004 the oil companies were fined $25,000 per day for violations to the laws of the land. Yet they paid out over $4 billion in bribes to countries we have no business being in, which is against the law. Something wrong with this picture?

The additional info in your Q about Bush and Cheney is true. Additional thoughts on my part is greed in those countries who supply it and by the way, news last night said it is now $100 a barrel. That can be a good thing in that we wasteful Americans may cut back, go to car pooling and it is good for this country in that while ethanol makes only 1 or 2% of bioifuels-it will help our farmers though that will also raise the price of food here a bit.It will also be passed on to livestock producers and thus to the marketplace. Somebody always ends up getting hurt -

It will be hard on truckers and others but the future of barrel prices going down significantly is not apt to happen for awhile. Ultimately the buck stops at the oval office. Other times when it has gone up in price, people cut back, it can be done in many sectors.

In the first place, check your information again on the Alaskan pipeline. It's probably the most well kept up and maintained piece of equipment in the world today.

Ask why people keep buying these cars like the big "Hummers" and the Dodge engines that eat up the fuel like it's going out of style. People that smile as they roar past in the huge vacation homes on wheels, a friend I know gets three miles to a gallon and drive all over the U.S. in his.

We have to start with our own closets before we start blaming others. That's easy to do, point the finger. Look in the mirror. Do you use electric, heat your home, drive a car, use plastic, rubber, etc, etc. Do you see what I mean, they all use oil. This includes cosmetics, Americans spend eight billion on these products a year. We have to clean our own closets first.

China and India are willing to pay more for the oil than we are. Their demand and our failing to drill for our own supply is driving the price up.

When the deep water drilling was stopped last year but only American and British companies were targeted by the Environmental cases, Chinese government owned companies were left alone, was that Bush and Cheney's doing as well?

Are they part of the Environmentalist movement?

Ask Bush and Cheney. Plus its time to give the CEO's of the oil companies their Christmas bonuses.

because our government does not care if the people in this country go broke tring to buy gas to get to any doctors appointment, they don't have to pay for gas or fuel. we need to get some one who care about the people in this country and ask them to do something about these problems.believe me when i say that no one that is running for any official office right now cares
