Because we are so willing to believe and fight for an idea. When the cause is great enough we usually rise to the challenge. You're right there are a lot of other good countries out there, with many good and similar qualities to the U.S., and we have a ton of problems that need to be fixed. At the end of the day though I think that to really love this country above all others you have to have a revolutionary spirit, and hold very true to the belief that united can change the course of the world. I don't think that there's any other place in the world that can make me feel so inspired to stand up for myself and others -- whatever the personal cost. I like living here because i believe in the ideas that founded this country.

I've spent a lot of time in Canada and it certainly has many advantages. And there are a dozen countries with more liberty and even a higher standard of living.
It seems dumb to say I like America because I was born here, but that's why most of us like it. I live in California and I love the diversity of the west coast, both geographic and cultural. We have people here from just about everywhere and our culture is a mixture of all of our cultures. Plus I like the climate out here.
We are losing our freedoms and liberties in America. We are becoming less democratic as time goes by, losing our control of our government, coming to fear our government and corporations too. But we've had times like this before and we've gotten through them. When things get painful for us, we vote for a change. We all know Bush won't be our president much longer, and we hold out good hope that we will be able to repair the damage he's done to the spirit of our country.

Like all countries America has it's problems, but there has never ever in the history of the Earth has there been a government that will invade a country, and then give that country back to the people. The Romans had the strongest military of its time, and when the conquered a nation they said you belong to the Roman Empire now. The Muslims did the same thing, so did the Nazi's, and every other major military power in the history of civilization did as well. But America is the only power in history to overthrow tyrany, and then give democracy back to the people of the country they invaded.

I like America because of the convenience of everything. I like America because no matter the station of life you are from, as long as you are smart enough and will work hard enough, you can succeed. America is a very charitable nation. American citizens contribute the most out of all other nationalities. I have lived all over the world. (Europe, Asia, the Caribbean) As much as I liked other nations, for each has something I love about it, America has everything I could want. I am not saying it is the best place in the world to live, it is just the best for me. I love America because it afforded my family opportunities I know they would not have had elsewhere, even in Europe.

Well, despite the bureaucracy, red tape and politics.
I like the fact I can go any place any where and I don't need a passport, that for the most part people all speak the same language, I have freedom to be what I want occupationally, or to build up personal wealth and just retire.
Freedom to chose what I like, what I want in my life, along with an underlying tradition that I have the right to life , liberty and the persuit of happiness.

Having lived in Europe for many years there are many aspects of life there that I prefer. On the other side of the world New Zealand is beautiful and I would love to live there.
Northern California is my home and it is probably the most beautiful part of mainland USA.
Now don't get excited we all think our home place is the best.

Just how old ARE you?
You, of all people, should be damned grateful to live in America. You'd be tossed in jail for dissent in a communist country.
I did mention sharing your paycheck - if you're doing well, I'll be happy to send you my address. I do okay, but I only work in the winter, and I'd sure appreciate the extra cash in the summer.

Name me one country where everyone is equal.
Well? Hello! We're waiting!
Thought so. There isn't one.
At least here you won't go hungry if you at least try. You won't get dragged to some prison for speaking your opinion, you won't be shot by the military just for praying to God and as a woman you can sleep knowing the police won't kick down your door in the night to rape you. Thankd God you are here and safe.

America is the only country that is composed of people from everywhere, and every belief system.
That's why we have so much strife, sometimes; but it's also why we are so successful.
