Just trying to get a feel for the typical expat lifestyle in Dubai(construction industry) and what salary is going to cut the mustard....

2000/- is the budget for clubbing for me.

This is not inc. clothes, beauty buy and other stuffs

I live in Abu Dhabi and probably spend about 1000-1200 Dhurams a month on drinks and entertainment.

well depending on your lifestyle but i would say not less than 2000 AED!
