my take on this: you overestimated the power of the quad core.

alright, long lecture here:

theoretically, programs running on your comp would be assigned to the four different processing cores, and they would all work together on the same processes. 'many hands make light work'.

however, we do not live in this world. yes, the hardware is powerful. what you overlooked is the software.

many programs out these days (and OS) do not fully utilize the four cores. in fact, they dont fully utilize the dual cores. instead of assigning processes to the cores so they can work on it together, the programs assign one process to only one core. very inefficient.

my advice to you: go get a dual core. some programs are already being written to fully utilize the two cores. however, programs for the quad cores are still a ways away.

Perhaps it will make things easier for the pros if you could post your complete set up. Also please elaborate on what you meant by "slow and not that smooth". What game were you playing and at what settings?

there are so many possibilities, the mobo might have changed the default setting of the cpu, the chipset on the new mobo might not be as compatable with the cpu. do you have vista on the new mobo and xp on the other, it is easier when you are actually there.

Try reformatting. Then flash the bois. if that doesn't work get DDR3 ram

You probably don't have the correct MB setting in place. Try the forums at http://support.asus.com/

Good luck.
