I don't like the intense effect of the whole pill. Can I just break it in half and feel the less intense effect? Or is this not recommended?

I am a former alcoholic and drug addict. I have a damaged liver. My liver, like all abusers of alcohol is over active. My body processes medications faster than normal.
Had an operation a few years ago. The doc prescribed two percodan every 12 hours. I would be zonked for 6 hours, functioning for 3 hours and in a high state of pain for the next 3 hours. I then began taking only one of the percodan at the prescribed 12 hours and saving the other which I would take 6 hours later. I was not zonked. Was able to function. And, had greater long-term relief.
Taking half might even better for you.

Prednisone will help, doubt if they will Rx it, your Vicodin dose is not a therapeutic dose for pain. Try warm salt water rinses for throat, chicken soup. OJ or Vit C and multivit if can't eat right for now. Change toothbrush when better.. or get Nyquil. this has tylenol in it FYI.

if you take pills and what not its ok to break them in half BUT! you can screw up the dosage if the pill has no scoring in it (lines on it or break marks to break easier) those are to show you if you take half that pill your getting half the dosage if the pills arent scored with lines or a line down the middle i would take the whole thing b/c that means that if you break it in half the side you take could be a medicated side to help any side effects of the other side of that pill if it has lines or a line its cool to break it
but i would gulp the whole tab if it has no scores

hope it helps*

Sure, it's not a problem at all. I agree, the affect can be intense and you shouldn't take more medication than is needed. Taking too much...now there's a problem.
