What are the main beliefs of the current Democratic party?

I have to argue tomorrow that the Democratic party is the best party out of all, I could care less if you like it or not, I just want to know what they believe in strongly.

thanks!

I think this link will help you a lot make sure to check party platform and our plan but the other links will probably be useful. Charters and bylaws will probably be useful but it is a lengthy pdf document.

Oh democrats are the best party of all because they are for peace and working class.
Also beliefs among the democratic party are; equal opportunities for citizens, a fair living wage and tax system, family values, quality education all citizens opportunity to reach potential, freedom from government interference in our private lives & personal decisions, individual strengths in diverse pop. are beneficial, security in our homes and safety on our streets, separation of Church and State to preserve the freedom to pursue our beliefs (people sometimes get upset about this but you would not like it if we had a national religion that you had to believe if it was one other than your own), a strong United States - morally, economically, and militarily, common-sense reforms that give us cleaner and safer air and water

other good links (I am giving you these because i know how stressful it can be with school and it's pretty late already so...)Good Luck

this is a link to about what pro- choice really is. A woman has a right to choose, it is no one's business but her own. (And I'm sure most people wouldn't want their 12 year old daughter walking around pregnant for nine months if she was raped by a relative) I don't believe it is the right choice for me but I DO BELIEVE IT IS A CHOICE and it may be the right choice for someone else and who am I to judge or tell anyone it is not. oh by the way there are some things on this link that are commonly not thought of when i think of pro choice just to let you know

death penalty
Politics and Capital Punishment

"Republicans' and Democrats' opinions on the death penalty differ, although a majority in both groups endorses it. Eighty percent of Republicans support the death penalty, while 65% of independents and 58% of Democrats support it." link to chart

We believe strongly in:

Getting out of Iraq

Diplomacy instead of brinksmanship on Iran

Lowering gas prices (By getting out of Iraq; Reinstituting the strong $ policies of the 90's; And alternative energy reserach)

Taking the national debt seriously again instead of just seeing how much air we can blow into the balloon

Investing in Student Loans and Pell Grants; Health care programs for the poor; Housing Block Grants; And rebuilding from Katrina instead of blowing our tax $ on a pointless war

And finding compromise to curb the country's skyrocketing health care costs. (The insurance and pharmaceutical lobbies must be reigned in)

Just a few of the things we believe in strongly. Hope that works for you.

They believe in killing unborn babies (abortion) but not criminals (the death penalty).

They want socialized medicine, and want the rich to pay for it. They want to believe that someone who makes over $80 thousand a year is poor enough that the government must give them healthcare (The S-CHIP bill).

They believe, "We will take things away from you for the common good." (An actual quote from Hillary Clinton during her Senate campaign.)

They want to take away your right to bear arms (gun control). Which is really just the first step in taking away your right to free speech. They don't understand that guns don't kill people, people kill people.

They believe you can talk your way out of ALL disputes (ie, the middle east problems, Vietnam, Korea). They believe in the power of the UN. (Note to self, the UN has no power without the US military to back it up.)

They don't believe in supporting the military (8 straight years of defense budget cuts over Bill Clintons tenure in the WH. They want to pull out of Iraq before total victory is achieved.)

They do support ex military people that speak poorly of the military and the job they do, even if they must lie to do so (Look up John F. Kerry and Jack Murtha).

They believe in the "Fairness Doctrine". (A blatent attempt to silence Rush Limbaugh because they believe he has too much power. He's a talk show host, nothing more, nothing less. But he's damn good at his job. It drives Democraps crazy.)

They are for gay marriage and/or civil unions. (See Massachusetts Legal Rulings)

They are for taking religion out of schools (Removing the Pledge of Alligence from the classroom.)

They are against our current President even to the point of treason. Everything he is for, they are against. It doesn't really matter what it is.
