You probably won't pass the courses for a journalism degree because grammar and writing news are key in passing courses in this difficult major. You could study journalism in your native language though while perfecting you tr English. skills, it would be much easier to pursue a career in this field.

Of course they can major in journalism, but the main point of journalism is effective communication, and if they don't speak English properly I doubt they'll be very good at what they do or get very far. In regards to the sense of humor, everyone's tastes are different, so I wouldn't consider that a set-back unless it's a really unpopular sense of humor (something that the student couldn't pull off or "popularize").

It very much depends on you and how you are willing to adapt.

If you are writing in English you need to have a command of this language. If your non-American sense of humor can be appreciated by your audience, whatever that audience is, you can have a career and you can definitely major in journalism.

Journalism is very much about getting the facts and presenting them to an audience. It is not about persuading people or getting on a soap box to make yourself a star.

Learn to write short sentences, built your vocabulary, and read a lot. A lot. A book a week or even more. Learn geography, politics, and social concerns. Then learn to be neutral and just tell people what's happening.

Good luck and never stop learning.
