Newton. His work changed how we 'see' the world.
Einstein's work expanded on Newton's (actually proving Newton's work to be close to reality but not exactly right at close to the speed of light).

Galileo laid the foundation for Newton and for experimental science - a key development for modern science.

Aristotle began the whole process by trying to critically look at the world we live in. He 'got it wrong', but so did Newton. Someday scientific progress will show the errors in Einstein's work too.

Science will continue to grow and evolve, eventually proving much of what we think we know today to be wrong; but all modern science rests on the shoulders of these giants.

I choose the underated figure of science history, 5. Euler. Although Newton Was the founder of modern day society, Euler was able to take many important steps for modern day science. For these reasons I choose Euler, with an honorable mention to Newton.

PS: Aristotle got everything wrong.

Newton and Einstein had the imagination to Leap way ahead of everyone else. Newton made the greatest leap since he was already thinking about putting objects in orbit hundreds of years before it happened!!!

Of the four I would go with Newton. Francis Bacon and Archimedes should be on the list.
