Someone told me once that sex is made for reproduction. If so should a man or woman who is unable to concieve a child be able to have sex? This was my answer to someone who told me their reason for being against homosexuality was because sex is for reproduction. And isn't sex seen also as something spiritual? A sign of love, or passion? If everybody saw sex just as reproduction, then marriage and sex wouldn't really mean anything, would it? What does sex mean without love? I think that even if a man or woman can not concieve they should be able to have sex. I don't think sex is just for reproduction. It's about love. It's the same thing with everybody, no matter what sexuality.

Preach on, sister.

I'm going to hazard a guess that the person who told you that sex is only for reproduction was a bible-thumper. According to many parts of the old testament, this was true - sex was for procreation. But that doesn't mean that they only did it a few times. Which is why the OT is filled with guys who begat many sons (no mention of daughters LOL) with many wives. The hebrews needed to reproduce (a lot) so they wouldn't be crowded out by rival tribes. This is also the same book that says any man who lieth with mankind as with womankind should be stoned to death.

Fast forward a little bit to the J-man. He comes along and tells people to love one another and forgive each other, thus setting a completely different tone for all the books to follow.

I think this is one reason why modern christians are so confused: conflicting messages. On one hand, we hate homo's, on the other hand, we love everyone. What's a worshipper to do?

Answer: make up your own mind.

Sex is an amazingly intimate act. It is a way to grow closer with your partner and seek mutual pleasure. It can be an amazingly spiritual experience. In this day and age, I don't think the christians need to worry about being bred out of the population. So why not let up a little, and let people love who they love? If sex was meant to be only for reproduction, why would it feel so good?

If you believe in god, why would he give you this amazing gift, then forbid you to partake of it?

The biological purpose of sex is reproduction. The problem is too many Christians use that to explain why certain sexual activity is sin.

There is nothing in the Bible that says a certain sexual activity is a sin because it does not procreate. People can use sex to procreate without being married, and there is no difference between homosexual sex acts and pre-marital heterosexual sex acts from a bible perspective. Both are equally sin.

Too bad Christians often make gay people out to be the worst sinners on earth. That is not fair at all. Why is sex outside of a marriage covenant between a man and a woman sin? Because God said it was. When you marry a person it is suppose to be for life.

Furthermore, if you have sexual feelings about a person of the same sex, that does not make you gay. Fantasies and lust really have no boundaries when they are in your head and emotions, where nobody else knows...but you and God know. The flesh is a monster if it is not held in check by the person relying on the power of God. All sexual sin is the same...sin that people must stop committing, and there is freedom in Christ!

Yes , sex is to make a baby so if someone who isn't married has sex , they deserve to suffer the consequences all the way !! Sex should only be between a married couple !!! That's exactly how god made it :)) sex is about commitment and gift to self . Love and passion . Not lust because that's a deadly sin !! Having a high sex drive as a teen does not mean it's ok to go have sex because u feel like it ! And no god made boys and girls to have a family ! It's wrong to be gay or anything of that sort ... Being gay / trans is a mental disability . I'm sorry if u have a confused sexuality . But if u do , then u need to pray for god to help u through that . I am a proud , blessed and smart catholic :))) 15 yr old girly ;)))

Yes. But, I will go further then that and say abortion should be illegal altogether. For those that say the unborn child is a woman's body. The unborn child is not part of the woman's body. It is a separate body altogether. No one could justify the claim that it is part of the woman's body from a medical or biological perspective. Biologically, it is the result of the egg from the mother and sperm from the father. Thus, it has both DNA from the mother AND the father. Thus it is unique. It has a unique and separate DNA from the mother and the father from the moment of conception. Thus, it can not be the mother's body since her body had different DNA. In addition, it is a growing, separate human person. It grows human organs, hands and feet and becomes a fully formed human body that is separate from the mother and father. During abortion, it's not the mother's head that is crushed by forceps and extracted through a tube. If it was the mother's body they would never have an abortion.

you are quite right in saying sex is not only for reproduction this is an act of expressing your total submission to your beloved the sufferings and the pains associated with the act of sex only help explain this thought .Though reproduction is having sex in favourable conditions between both a fertile woman and a virile man, but the underlying important factor is love between the two, thats why when there is love between two men or two women sex can still be enjoyed even without reproducing.

If sex is for reproduction only, why are those sexual yearnings so strong even past the age of reproduction? Humans are very sexual beings whether or not conception is the goal. I agree with you that love and passion are an important aspect of human sexuality. I read that the only mammals that have sex for pleasure and not just for reproduction are humans and dolphins.

Depending on what denomination of faith, a lot of people actually agree that God gave sex for husband and wife to enjoy together. Not just reproduction. His argument sounds like a mirror. He really doesn't have a good reason against homosexuality except the bible says so.

Sex is not only for reproduction. That would be very boring. We would only be having sex, what, once or twice, maybe three times in our life. That would stink. Sex is also a way of celebrating our relationship with our partner/wife/husband. It is a joinging of our bodies and celebration of our union together. It is for pleasure and for enjoyment. Reproduction is only a part of it.

I believe sex is only for reproduction. We expand this on because of our intelligent minds to make it more sacred. I strongly believe homosexuality is apart of nature as well. (EX: Gay animals) Some of us are born with one leg, one eye, or gay. We all aren't perfect with nature but we make the best of it. And Sex or "Love" is a wonderful thing!
