Most people want to make something off of their ideas I am sure. Im also sure those poor Russian scientists that never saw any money under the "five year plan" got disillusioned pretty quickly. In fact, it was pretty dangerous as it is thought that many in their disillusionment and poverty, sold weapons, ideas etc on the black market as the black market was basically the only paying market and to get anything there you need to do it that way or pay a bribe.
I have a good friend who was a teacher in Russia with a masters from a Russian university and was paid hardly anything while she was there. People here make more money cleaning houses than Russian teachers and scientists made.
There is no incentive to do good under Communism.
Communism has always yielded stagnation. Notice China is only taking off now that they have brought some capitalism in, before almost everyone was poor.

Dina - almost every invention is based upon something that came before. If we take your route then every invention has to be credited to some cave man named Ugg for inventing fire.
If your gist is that communism did not invent as much as capitalism then I think this can be accepted. If you insist on denying everything communists invented from space flight to the computer game Tetris, then you will not be engaging in a very fair debate.
But my real wonder is are you defending the system of government we have, or trying to suggest that government itself cannot contribute. A great many important inventions (from velcro to the MRI) have been discovered with government funding.

Two main reason in my opinion. In communism everyone is assigned a job. People with that kind of creativism do not have the time to invent as often. Most inventions take some kind of assets to experiment with beside the time to test inventions out. And because capitalism creates a competitive atmosphere. Where people try to outdo others. And FYI both the US and Russian got their space programs because of rockets invented in Germany during WWII. Each ran as fast as they could to obtain that technology from German scientists as Nazi Germany was going down. That's how both of us really got our space programs. The German scientists were running hot and heavy competition to win their war. Both in rocketry and they almost succeeded in a neuclear bomb first.

Since the foundations of civilization were created under theocracies, and the foundations of modern science under mercantilism I think you should not exclude them from consideration. In recent times Capitalist countries produced more inventions because they are richer and dedicated more resources to research.
Most inventions are based on scientific knowledge, and are not the result of a clever tinkerer trying to make money. Capitalism promotes the use of inventions in industry, but there is little profit to be made in basic research, so most of is done withe the sponsorship of government, or historically rich patrons. Compare the advances in science and medicine in the US before WWII when it was left to the private sector and during and after when there was a large amount of government funding.

Actually your question has inaccurate information. You must not realize that the free market capitalist system of the USA is actually quite new in relation to the history of all forms of economies in the world prior.
As far as your question though, capitalism does promote more competition; but, the problem is that it always tends to fail... you get a poor quality product that is rushed. IE) you see this all the time with new releases of software... like operating systems that are full of bugs because Guy A wants to beat Guy B on the market.

Firstly,I don't know why you'd think that. Rocket science and space technology were stolen from occupied Germany at the end of WWII, and capitalistic dominance is a recent phenomenon. Same for Russia's space program, which inspired the American space program, not the other way around.
Secondly, Capitalism is an economic system thriving under democracy, and communisim is politico-economic. The two are not mutually exclusive with shades of socialism in between.

The Communists did do some good things but they did not do them well.
Yeah they beat us to space but look how many people they killed with lax or not safety regs, that was only released after the wall came down.
The main reason is innovation and personal achievement are rewarded here and not so in communism.
Also it is impossible to sue the state under Communism so they did medical experiments on citizens.
Ever heard of LASIK eye surgery.

Uh, the U.S. had no longer something to do with Marxism; there are nevertheless American Marxists, as neither communism nor socialism have been somewhat discredited with the aid of the state-owned capitalism of the Soviet Union's fall. i think of that's sparkling to maximum individuals that deregulation is a nightmare, and there are somewhat few rather organic capitalists. individuals, although objecting to the be conscious, have been turning out to be extra and extra socialist in distinctive procedures. nevertheless twitching, better than somewhat alive and kicking.

Because democracy promotes and nurtures individual achievement; communism breeds dependency on the system; stunting individual growth and achievement. Why do you think that people like Igor Sikorski (creator of the helicopter) moved to the US?
Just a thought.

Get rich quick schemes in the capitalist business world, (buyouts, IPOs, conglomerates, acquisitions, mergers, and the stock market), do not actually work. Remaining solvent does not actually exist within false economics capitalism.
Profit existing in the capitalist business world, or millionaires existing within capitalism, is pathological deception committed by the 21 organizations spying on the population with plain clothes agents, (with covert fake names and fake backgrounds).
Actual economics is the persons paying the monthly business loan payments of companies voting at work in order to control the property they are paying for.
Capitalism is the psychology of imaginary parents, false economics, and the criminal deception of employees that are paying the bills (including the stocks and bonds, or shares) of companies.
Anti-democracy republicanism is the psychology of imaginary parents, and false government.
