Hi Wisdom.
It is true that we must master virtue. However, this is something that takes a very long time. It does not happen quickly. We may master several virtues, then realize we have "slipped" & forgotten about one of those virtues. So, we must go back & work some more on that virtue. There are so many virtues, that it will take years to master them all.
The truth is that most people will never be able to fully master them all. It is something that requires continuous work, through prayer and meditation.
You ask what else is there to master other than virtue. There are 2 important things to master — peace and tranquility. One cannot achieve true peace and tranquility without first mastering virtue.
You will know when you have mastered virtue, because you will receive a feeling of calmness surround you, an inner quiet. This is peace filling your body, mind & spirit. From this peace, you will then feel tranquility; and you can live that way.
However, these are things which require work also. Once you gain peace and tranquility, you want to keep them. You must control all feelings of anger & hatred, which you probably will have already done, for the most part, while mastering virtue. However, emotions can & do rise inside us which we must master to maintain the feelings of peace and tranquility.
It is worth it.
Peace.

No one yet has mastered virtue. It is a noble goal, it is a striving for perfection. If you ever reach perfection (perfect virtue) you will need master nothing else!

I think your beginning premise is faulty. For instance, if you master virtue but not survival, then being virtuous won't do you much good.
