or more to the point, how many of you even knew that it happened? for those of you who didnt catch it on Cspan or tune in to one of the very few radio and tv programs that addressed it : republicans voted to keep the impeachment bill alive and then the democrats voted to refer it to the house judiciary committee.

its funny how all the dittoheads and faux noize viewers spin this as calling a dem bluff. the fact of the matter is that bush and cheney have refused to coopertate or turn over any potential evidence so it would have been pointless to debate it yesterday, but the house judiciary committee which is headed by john conyers has independent investigative powers outside of bush appointed justice officials, special ways around the executive privlege rules, and a refferal to that committee is the normal step that an impeachment bill would take. you dirty stinking republicans need to quit drinking that kool aid and think for yourselves for a change

What gets me is you all think we have a two party system. When the last time a man that has been in congress for years ever cared about party lines. Way to many backs to scratch for that amount of time.

Why not the whole story?
That the Democrats voted it down, and the Republicans voted FOR IT.... Geesh, we want the Dems to "bring it on"... but once again the Dems were for it before they were against it. The Dems really do not want to impeach him, they only want to complain about him.
And everyone know that a closed door house judiciary committee is a joke because the public does not get to hear the debate.
Face it the Democrats were called on their crying, and are now trying to figure out how to handle the situation since the Republicans called them out.

Whats the point in impeaching Cheney or Bush, they are both washed up, and who would you have take their place, We don't need another idiot to be running the country at the moment in time, we need the time left for Bush's presideny in order to possibly find a good person, to take his place. At this moment I don't see that person but god forbid it would be Hillary (wet finger in the wind) Clinton.

Good post
Once things go to committee, the issue usually lacked enough merit to vote on so it just goes away.
Interesting the Dems chose to let it end! What happened to their zeal huh?

Let's see, it was Pelosi who swore that no impeachment would be brought up. Well, that was another lie by the dems I suppose. Nice how the dems did not want to debate it publically after the reps called them on it. It was a good day to be a congressman, well, if you are a republican that is.

The vote was 218/194 almost unanimous vote by the Democrats to send it to the judiciary committee where it will die a long slow death.

I know it was presented. I do not know how the vote turned out. Guess I'll have to go look that up now.

Waste of time. Cheney leaves office at noon on January 20th, 2009. Its not worth the millions of dollars an unsuccessful impeachment and removal trial would cost. Just wait it out. prosecute him after he's left office if he's committed a crime.
