On most modern cars a coat hanger won't work very well. There is a thin flat piece of spring steel called a Slim Jim that you should be able to get from auto parts stores. Using it requires some skill and some luck and it still doesn't work on some cars - you slide the tool down the glass into the slot where it retracts and either hook a bar inside or push a bar depending on the car and undo the lock.
I would suggest leaving this to your parents to work out because damaging the car can get you in trouble and a kid working on breaking into a car is far more likely to attract attention than an adult with a worried looking owner looking on. Part of what you are feeling is teenaged angst - I went through something tween my mom and dad - and wasn't very helpful then either.

There are ways to use a wire coat hanger to get the door to unlock. If you can't do that very well, call a company called Pop A Lock. Usually they open car doors for people who accidental locked their keys inside. I think the only charge about $20.

If you break into your dad's car, you could be arrested. Besides, it's not that easy. Especially if it's a newer car. You would have to jimmy the lock and if you don't know what you're doing, it's almost impossible. If he took the laptop, your mother should call the police and get it back. She doesn't have to press charges if she doesn't want to.

Try a coat hanger, I've seen people do this..
Wedge it inbetween the rubber seal on the bottom of the window, there should be some kind of rod in there that you could hook it onto and pull up.. I hope this helps, I wish I had more for you.
I've also seen someone pull the window out towards them and reach in but that was an iffy car winow.
good luck
