Copper is a metal that requires high temps. to melt it. It is insoluble in water and organic solvents, but conducts electricity (copper wires).

MgO is soluble in water.

Polyethene melts at much lower temps, is insoluble in water and does not conduct electricity.

Silica does not conduct electricity.

Sodium chloride is soluble in water.
