I'm trying to stop my little one from opening doors, and drawers. I have the brand safety first, using their cabinet
& drawer latches, and the ones with the tension release strap, but i find the sticky stuff holding them in place, just fails...everytime. I sick of wasting money on a product that doesn't work. What can I use to stop my child opening drawers, cupboards, shower doors......if you know something that definately works let me know..

I believe I have the same kind of cabinet locks and you are supposed to screw them in. The adhesive tape on them is so they stay in place while you screw them into the cabinet.

If you have cabinet doors with the handle together, I suggest just getting the slide locks. They had them that looked like a U shape and you just slid the end on and then pushed buttons on the top and bottom to slide them off. I cant find them anymore though :( BUT now they have these ones that look like a diamond and 2 zip tie looking things that you loop through the center diamond piece... they are mommy proof too though LOL! I bought both of these at walmart.

For the doors, they have door knob covers at walmart too. OR you can buy a gate and not let him or her in the kitchen and close the bathroom door...

I haven't really had a chance to try out many safety devices as my guy isn't crawling yet. I do have a plastic slide lock for the cupboards in my kitchen that have the cleaning supplies. I've always kept one dangling there so if company comes with children I can keep them out of there. So far not even my 6 year old niece can open the lock when in place yet I found it very easy to do once you know exactly where to place your thumb.

Sometimes though old school tricks might work best. My folks used elastics around handles and yard sticks slid down the bank of drawers through the handles. Of course that only works for some cupboards. Take a walk down the fasteners aisle at any major hardware store and look at the various locks and such available. Sometimes it doesn't have to say childproof for you to know it will work for you. There are so many different ways to secure doors nowadays you may find a unique solution.

I think it depends on the surface you are sticking the adhesive to. It works very well on my fridge for the Safety First fridge lock. As for cupboards, I never had that problem. I cleared everything but my pots and pans from the lower cupboards, so my son has had free access to them. I keep everything else in the upper cupboards, except the row of drawers I keep my dining table pushed up against so he cant get to them. For doors, buy flip-locks. I keep one on my front door, and they are really easy to open being at adult height. You just screw the lock into the doorframe, to lock or unlock you slide up and flip the lock over across the edge of the door. Shower doors, I wouldnt even bother honestly.

Safety 1st makes Tot-Lok. It is magnatized. The latch goes on the inside of the drawers and cupboards and the "Key" you can just leave on top of the fridge. When you need to open a cupboard or drawer you grab the key, put it on the outside of the cupboard where the latch is and turn it.
