How goof are you at improvising related words into one sentence that makes sense? You know, the periods and epochs of the geologic time scale. I'd like them in a sentence that will help me remember them, but i dont have that sentence...
periods: quaternary, tertiary, cretaceous, jurassic, triassic, permian, pennsylvanian, mississipian, devonian, silurian, othodovician and cambrian.
EPOCHS: Holocene, Pleistocene, Pliocence, Miocene, Oligocene, eocene and paleocene.

I'm glad I stumbled on this question, as I've just had to do the same thing. I'm an All-state contestant (on bass-clarinet), so I have to know all 12 major scales, Chromatic, a 1.5 minute solo, and super hard etudes. Etudes don't come out till August, so I have to focus on scales until then. The problem with having a couple weeks, is it's gonna be a little crammed. I think I learned 9 of my 12 in 3 weeks, so you'll have to work hard. Start with 3. An easy one and two moderate ones. My first 3 were F, E flat, and A. If you have trouble memorizing, then you have to rely on muscle memory, and for that, the best way I know is the chain method. Take your easy scale, (I'm using my F scale for example. Flute is the only woodwind I don't play, so I don't know if our scales are different) And start with your first two notes. F G. Play that three times. Then add a note. F G A. After you play that 3 times with no mistakes, add the next note. F G A B(flat)... See where I'm going? After you finish that octave, run through the entire octave from memory 3 times, and then move on to the next octave. It's grueling, but it works. Run through the 3 scales from memory until you can draw a card out of a hat and play the scale on it without thinking about anything but where you fingers start. Use the same process for each additional scale, and when you have it down, throw it in the hat and run through all of them to make sure you still know them before you add the next scale. Good Luck!!
