In the history of the world has anyone every given anyone "authority" to invade another country?

Are you kidding me -- what kind of question is that?

The US is a SOVEREIGN nation, meaning it does not require authority, other than authority given by our own government and constitution.

If anyone gave the US authority to invade IRAQ is was the Citizens of the United States who freely govern themselves and uphold our government.

Yes, yes, the UN did "give" the it's approval to invade IRAQ, but that is not to be confused with authority, the UN has none. (I don't say that in a demeaning way, I thin the UN can power to do great things, and I support the UN, but they do not govern over sovereign nations or their militaries.)

After reading the article referred to by "-" I did not read where the security council gave the US the go-ahead to invade Iraq. It was supposed to be a coalition of countries. This administration did as it usually does, it interpreted the resolution to mean that IT had the right to invade Iraq. It did just that. The reference to a coalition of countries is at best comical. Besides Britain, the other countries sent a token military force. The US supplied the bulk of the military & all the money. This charade was done in the name of "democracy". What a joke. It has cost the lives of 4,000 young Americans so far & the taxpayers of the USA over 500 billion dollars & a democracy is still far off in Iraq.

No one gave the US the authority to invade Iraq.

It certainly was not the UN. In fact the invasion is a violation of the UN Charter, therefore making the war in Iraq illegal under international law.

There were UN sanctions imposed on Iraq and there were several UN resolutions requesting that Iraq allow for UN Weapons Inspectors, but the Iraqi government did not allow the inspections. BUT, this does not give the US a right to violate international law and invade a sovereign nation.

No one. Bush took it upon himself to invade Iraq.

The UN voted against it and the U.S. Congress only voted to give Bush leverage to deal with Saddam diplomatically. The problem occurred with the wording of that legislation and the fact that Bush went against his word to obey the UN then invaded.

You got to be kidding??!!?? I think a sector of America is getting more stupid and helpless.

Supports my case. You don't know your world history. Don't care to learn it. Just set on your lazy, liberal butts and wait for the Government to tell you what to do next.
