Yes I have been saying it for years, Its 1984 in the oligopoly stage. As an example the Ministry of Truth is divided in about six sections, NewsCorp, AOL-TimeWarner, Viacom, Disney, General Electric, and the Government. Or that the Super Countries don't quite exist yet but its getting closer and may even divide the same way it does in the Orwellian nightmare if Britain breaks from the EU, as another example. So my question is what are you going to do about it.

Yes, 1984 is upon us and the Chicago Bears will win the Super Bowl in 1985.

Wasn't 1984 about 23 years ago?

Oh, you mean Orwell. Big Brother and all that. Cameras at red lights.

Duh.

if you would like i already wrote an essay on the subject in english class last year.

one could argue that indeed we are on the path to 1984. but if that were indeed the case, we wouldn't be really aware of it, because the outcome of 1984 is the result of the society voluntarily installing it's leaders and accepting the suppressive laws

"1984" is coming true in the sense that Big Brother is watching us, to an extent that would have seemed totally ridiculous and wildly unacceptable 60 years ago.
Where George Orwell got it wrong was in his assumption that the world would be driven into this condition, rather than coaxed into it.

I think it's still far from away from society to become BigBrother.

Things that are yet to come:

1. Insect robots are now being developed. They will be spying every household in the world.

2. Evey car will be equipped with GPS, and huge database will contain every car's position at every given time to track people.

3. Cash will disappear and every transaction will be logged somewhere.

4. Microchips may be implanted in the bone.

5. You name it.

It's been coming true since Bush came into office. The problem is that Americans are usually so darn slow to realize things... not until it is too late.
