This evening, while getting my daughter's dinner ready, I gave her the phone to play with. I guess that she dialed 911, and left it sitting in the kitchen floor for a few minutes. I noticed the phone turned on, and turned it off. They immediatly called me back, and I explained that my baby had been playing with it. Then about 30 minutes later, the cops showed up! They laughed about it, but they had to check my house just to be sure I wasn't being held hostage or anything. They were really nice, and said that it happens all the time.
However, my house was a mess! I always clean after she goes to bed, so there was laundry in the floor, toys everywhere, and her dinner still sitting there. Plus, she still had squash smeared across her forehead and I didn't even have a bra on!LOL
They wouldn't call social services for a messy house would they? I made a comment about the mess and one of the cops said that he garaunteed his house was messier.
Should I worry at all?

Also, we have a thing with all of our dvd's on it, and Emma had just got down pulling all of them off, so they were all over the floor as well. I am really worried about this. The cops were super friendly, but I can't help wondering if I am going to get a visit of child protective services! HELP!

No, no, no! No way no how are you going to get a visit for that! My aunt works for child services and she would never get an assignment based on a messy house. Ever. Hell must freeze over before they have the time to take on those kinds of problems.

P.S. Molly Maids will help you out, hun.

My friends baby did this too, only even younger. So, When I was in an apartment, we were having dinner and we heard running and then very clearly, "He's going to kill me!!!" I freaked out and called the cops. It was a domestic situation and with us being so close we could hear what was going on. After they left she was on the phone with a friend and they came with their guns and everything. They told her (the one being threatened and possibly abused) that the house was a mess and they had one week to get it cleaned or the would be in trouble. So, based on what I heard, they would have let you know, and checked back in on you if there was a problem.

You really don't have anything to worry about. Even the cops know that small children create large messes. They won't call social services just because your house was a wee bit messy. Only if it appeared that you weren't watching after your child or letting your child get in harms way, ex: letting your child play near stairs, letting your child play with the electric sockets, ect.

Good grief, I hope not!! If so, I'll be getting a visit, too if the cops ever come to my house!! Especially if the cops were married and had kids, going to your house was probably like going home to them. I think all of our homes get messy at times. Sometimes it's just impossible to keep the house picked up when you've got little ones.

no i would not depart an 11 year old with a 6 month old. i'm an old soul and have consistently been very mature for my age on a similar time as a youthful toddler or maybe i did not babysit an toddler till i became 13 or maybe that became for my sister's toddler not a neighbor or different non kin member. and it became at my living house cuz she lives interior a similar living house so i became attentive to her regular recurring and the place each and every thing became.

No, I'm sure they have seen worse. Someone called CPS on the people I babysit for (Before I started working for them) and their house is GROSS. I mean, dirty (Poopy) diapers left in corners for days at a time, they leave poop smeared on the baby's crib and sheetsm, food crusted all over the floor, etc. If CPS didn't find anything to charge them with you are completely safe. I have given up trying to help them clean their home and just take the boys to my house.

BTW...get her a play phone from now on...lol

Oh how funny. I don't think they would turn you in for having a messy house or a baby with food on it's face. Especially if they had children themselves. That will be a great story to pass on to her when she's older, so make sure to write it down now not to lose the funny edge to it.

I wouldn't worry, lmao. At least she knows how to dial 911. If it happens again, they might get kinda crabby. I'm sure they have seen houses messier. As long as the child looks happy, I don't think they really look at that so much for a "crank" call.

Don't worry, every one with kids has a messy house at some point.
There is a BIG difference between a messy house and a Dirty (unsafe) one.
