Try a matching wallet, or some cute purse organizers. Ask her Mother or best friend what purse, and where to get it. A gift card is kinda impersonal, but with a really good explanation like, honey, I wanted to get you a purse, but I didn't dare even try to pick it out.
Try jewelry, something sweet and personal. I saw a bracelet in a catalog, it had angel and heart charms. Really cute. Something seasonal, like a sterling necklace with a snowflake large charm might be good, if you live where there is winter. A cool watch. Or a set of inexpensive but real pearls, if GF is a little on the conservative side. Shop around at the department store, or a chain jewelry store for prices, and ask for help on what is in style.

It's not too risky. Find a handbag designer she really loves. I know most women enjoy Coach or Dooney and Burke (more affordable designers). If you got money and she enjoys higher end designers, consider a Louis Vuttion bag or maybe a Chanel.
I would go for the handbag, if that's what she really loves. Talk to her mom, best friend, sister about what kind of bag she would really love.

Ooohhh No No No to a gift card, she will be really disappointed.
You can get some lovely "charm" bracelets nowadays, I got one for my daughter and the charms were different handbags, also you can get the charms to hang from handbags. Take her shopping for somebody elses present and let her linger round the handbag sections and keep your ears and eyes open as to what she is looking at

I am seeing everyone say get a gift card. I have to disagree. I think that those are so impersonal. She will think you put no time in thinking of something at all. Talk to her. Ask her for specific things that she wants. If that does not work, take her shopping let her pick out what she wants and you pay but then also pick out a little something anything to wrap so she will have a surprise. Or you could always give her a pamper day. That works for most women.

A Prada. For some reason the ones in China are a lot cheaper than the ones sold in Beverly Hills. I don't know why.

get her some flower's, a nice picture of you's both in a frame and maybe a top from her favorite store. Or you could maybe get her a digital camer - it might sound expencive but shop's have really great deals around christmas time. In big w i saw a camera & a printer you plug your camera into and prints out your pictures straight away for $150. You's could take lots of pictures and print them out, and maybe get her a frame too put one of them in :)

Find out her favorite designer, then buy her a handbad of that designer. Maybe just by it from a place that will accept exchanges...just in case she's not 100% satisfied with it! My boyfriend got me a burberry purse and I absolutely loved it!!!
