Hi Liz, Christmas is a huge time for retail so glad to see you are thinking of something to do! Firstly you need a Christmas promotion, whether it be 20% off store wide for a week or weekend or even a buy one get one free. It depends on what type of boutique you have. You should then decorate your shop front to "stand out" from the crowd, for example, if you have elegant things in your store then have an elegant Christmas display, even a white christmas display that people in Australia long to have but can't. Don't paint the windows or do anything tacky - you own a boutique so keep it in line with your standards. Don't have too many things in the shop front, possibly a Christmas ideas display e.g. dining room set up or bedroom set up using what you have in your store as key pieces.

Lastly, you need to promote what you have going. The local paper is a great place, try and get an editorial with your ad. If you help out a charity in your sales, that is a great hook for the local paper to do a feature on you which encourages people to buy at your store as some of the money goes to charity etc.

Hello Liz, I think this is perfect timing for your promo. Be ready for the customer's.

Do a promo like "Free" hair dye with a cut. Or 20% if you bring a friend. Make sure the whole experience is a good one.

Have your place smelling and looking great. Check out my site on my profile for products to make your place smell great.

Lots and lots of success, to you. Make sure and buy some comfortable shoes, I have a feeling you will be a very busy person this holiday season.

The best promos for most small businesses are gift certificates - with a twist - such as buy a $50 gift certificate and get a small item such as potpourri-and place it in a small gift bag, etc. - use your imagination - it will pay off!

What do you sell? You could have free gift wrapping. You could write down what all the women like, and then when their husbands come in, tell the husbands what the women wanted...
