I went for my annual check up today. And the lab tech called my name and led me to the lab. She told me to put my hand straight and she started taking my blood. After everything was done. She said, "all set". I smiled and said thank you. She just nodded. She didn't even smile.

I think a smile can make a huge difference. I wasn't expecting her to smile or wasn't upset that she didn't smile. But I think for every career, on of the most important thing is to be able to look and the patient or the customer and smile with a warm heart. Do u agree ? Did u have similar experience like me, where u wished that person smiled a bit ??

yes i agree and that is why we should smile as well. if we expect another person to smile at us then others will be expecting the same. they expect you to smile at them and if you wouldn't it would not please them and they will get the feeling you had. it had happened to me but no matter what the response was from the other person, i would still smile because after a few time that person will eventually smile at you and then the heaviness of the air is gone. A smile can make a big difference because it takes away the heaviness of the air and ones heart and shreds light into lives.

Yes, I totally agree. In their line of work, definately they know most people are a little on edge waiting for the news. They can at the very least, look at you and smile. It does not cost them a thing. A smile does make a lot of difference. I wish some people, who don't smile see it the way that you and I do.

Have a good night.

Smile is like a cube of Sugar. It seems to invite.
So depends on When and Where U smile.
Sadists like to find frown and trouble everywhere which they enjoy. They do not see the co-operative society. If only our motto could be to see the other happy and Be-Happy.
Smile is like sharing blissful energy, but envy is the spoil sport.

I've noticed when the tech takes my blood sometimes they say nothing or don't even look at me. I find that odd too. On other occasions they can be real friendly. Maybe they don't like their job very much but I should at least get a smile from them as you say. It doesn't take much energy to just smile. And they are dealing with the public so one would expect it.

Well she is just doing her job. This is the real world and if she doesn't choose to smile thats her problem. Like, i walk to school
everyday and i have a crossing guard i say thank-you she doesn't smile. Like i said she is just doing her job and she can choose to smile or not.

A smile can definately make a difference! If you can find something to smile about when you're not feeling so hot, you'll instantly feel a little better!

Yes! Totally! It makes it seem like you actually care and enjoy what you're doing. Even if you're not really having fun, you make the person you're smiling at feel better, too(in most cases).

I was working with a prison inmate. He handed me a soda. I smiled and said, "Thank you." He seemed stunned.

He offered me an apple. I smiled and said, "No, thank you." He stared at me.

It was strange to me. I don't think he'd heard a kind word in years, if ever. that day on, he watched my back.

A simple smile seems like such a small thing. But you never know how much it might mean to someone on any given day.
