I'm looking to power a new nvidia 8800 GT (not GTS or GTX). My current PC is an HP a1730n, which has 2GB of RAM, an AMD 5000+ proc, and right now, an integrated card. THe stock power supply is still in there, with 350 W of power. I know I need a new one and I want to get a power supply thats under $65-70 I don't mind approaching the limit, but I want a reliable power supply without spending too much.

I kind of mostly need help with the kind of power supply I need. (cable amperage requirements, and other such things) The a1730n is a standard sized case.

SO basically, anything with 450-500W and dual 18 amp 12 volt rails will power it as long as its from a reliable brand?

Take a close look at the HP 1730n case. This might not be a standard model power supply inside. Look closely at the pictures of power supplies at http://www.newegg.com and see if you can get a MATCH.

Look at the sides, then all connectors.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

8800GT draws up to 110W or almost 10 amps on the +12V rail. Your processor circuit could be drawing 6 to 8 amps on that same rail. A power supply with 26 amps or more on the +12V rail should be fine.
These should run great on your PC:
