Are Dems looking sort of foolish yet again?

Dem Dennis Kucinich got the House to vote on the idea of debating the possibility of impeaching Cheney.

Well, low and behold, Republicans decided to give the Dem party a chance to debate the impeachment of Cheney on the House floor. As a matter of fact 86 Dems voted for that idea. And, 165 Republicans voted along with them.

But, Pelosi REFUSED to allow Americans the chance to sit back and watch Dems try to justify why Cheney should be impeached.

Pelosi held another vote that simply sends the idea to a committee where she wants it to die.

Now, why won't Pelosi vote to debate the idea of impeaching Cheney just like almost 100 people in her party voted for?

Funny?

William,

That is correct. Many Republicans decided that Dems should explain to America why Cheney should be impeached. Dems whine about it. So Republicans figured the Dems should actually explain to America on the House's floor what their rational is. But, Pelosi chickened out. Why? Because there IS NO RATIONAL.

She has she has no basis to impeach him. As long as it's just talk, and no debate, the Democrats won't look like idiots. They can just talk the talk their far left base wants to hear, without laying out a real legal reason for an impeachment.

The Republicans know there is nothing there, so they are voting to go ahead with the debate. As far as the accusations of "Republicans playing politics" it wasn't them that wanted a vote to impeach. That was brought up by the Democrat space alien flying saucer observer in the Dem party candidate for prez.

Haven't Republicans been complaining about Democrats wasting time and money on investigations? Right now Congress has more important things to do than waste their time with an impeachment that will last until the incumbents are no longer in office. At the moment, I believe there is a confirmation hearing going on for Attorney General. There is also important legislation being discussed. I hope that the constituents of the Republicans who are wasting their time with this divisive political dirty trick take it into consideration a year from now when they vote.

No doubt the Dems would love to impeach Cheney, and bush for that matter. How many times did we hear that Scooter was going to be the downfall of Cheney and then Bush.

This congress needs top wake up, the Dem's do not want a full scale debate because they have no facts to base any impeachment on.

They have plenty of work to do and they haven't done much of it because they are still trying to loose the war in Iraq and embarrass the white house.

Some will never learn and many will call me wrong and worse but wheres the spending bills that were due over a month ago?

And with fewer and fewer casualties in Iraq the Dem's still want to play politics with the funding and our soldiers lives.

We do not have a Dem congress, we have a bunch of losers wanting to win the white house at any cost.

Not funny, logical. Since only 86 democrats voted for the proposal, which is far less than half of the number of democrats in the House, it's logical for Pelosi to derail the proposal until there's more time to debate it. After all, impeachments cost a lot of money, something republicans are suddenly interested in saving. Nice try though.

The vote to table the privileged resolution, offered by Ohio Democrat Dennis Kucinch, began as a largely party-line vote to kill the measure, but Republicans developed a strategy to force Democrats to debate the resolution by supporting Kucinich. GOP leaders felt as though it was in their interest to debate the measure because it would make Democrats look bad.

Republican lawmakers and aides credited Rep. John Shadegg (R-Ariz.) for coming up with the idea.

According to your title, most of the republicans voted yes to a debate to impeach Cheney?

Apparently, the dems are much better at initiating non-binding resolutions, behind door investigations and all night pajama parties than they are at actually trying to explain their political grandstanding tactics.

She is being told by her advisers that the Republicans will try to exploit the situation for political purposes.

She needs to stop listening to her advisers and get rid of Dick Cheney. I can't imagine George W. Bush appointing someone worst than Cheney.
