Until this year, Thanksgiving was always celebrated with an extended family; siblings, their spouses, children, cousins, their spouses, children, boyfriends and girlfriends of children, cousins, friends of family, even ex husbands and wives. Three years ago, over 60 extended family members were at our Thanksgiving celebration.

This year, I doubt we will have more than 20. My father died, my brother died, and a son-in-law died. My mother is the glue that is holding the rest of the family together. She is 86. My mother had 11 brothers and sisters, and is the oldest of four now living. She has three living children, 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Thanksgiving is a day of blessing for my mother. I can't imagine spending the day without her.

We use to celebrate with extended family till we moved about an hour away. Slowly the Thanksgiving gathering got smaller and smaller. Truthfully, that's about how I like it, I love to just have immediate family. I get every ounce of the extended family at Christmas.

Well, it would be nice to say that i actually know, but i cant, so this is the best i can give you:

Moved away from the majority of my family, to move closer to a cousin who is pretty much leaving us, to do w/e after he promised it would be different..the only way we ( my mother and i ) are doing anything for Thanksgiving is if we are invited to an old neighbors house (they moved over an hour away) but that's not even a sure thing, so like my mom has told,\ me, PP&J sandwhiches are better than nothing...

Even when we were close to other family memebers, we always managed to spend it with our extened family...hell, our extened families, are extened for a reason (we like them better, and we got to choose them) lol

my family hasnt been a tight knit one as you could proabably tell...but that ok..no lose love on any side here...

No my immediate family (brother) that lives where i live doesnt want to do thanksgiving so well just go to friends and help cook there. They are like family anyway. Hope that you have a good one.

Extended. Even though we are different religions and political belief, we put all differences aside for holidays. I'll be with my in-laws who I like better than my own extended family...THEY are full of drama.
