'An airplane pilot and a girl friend's sister married the owner of a small planes business in our town. She and I would sit in the pilot's seat and pretend we were flying. The airline still is in business there after 65 years and is mainly used by business men,as it is only 60 miles from Des Moines,Iowa.

An elevator operator.

She had a seat, a big machine, lots of people to say hello to her, and she had to be precise--got lots of praise for matching up the floor with the elevator bottom.

Of course, that was when I was four and most elevators had operators in them.

A year later, it seemed the entire world switched to automatic elevators, and I got obsoleted out of my first job choice . . . .oh well . . . .
