I have been going to privet school since kindergarten. My parents do not wish to send me to a private highschool. Does this mean I am less likely to get into an Ivy League school? I get pretty good grades. As and occasionely a b+.

That's not exactly the case. I went to an Ivy, and pretty much everyone you meet attended private school. Except for me -- I went to public school my entire life (and not very good ones at that). But there are also sub-par private schools that never send kids off to Ivies. Ivy Leaguers tend to come from the very best schools in the nation - both public and private. There just happen to be more exemplary private schools than there are amazing public ones. It's a self-perpetuating cycle.

If you're already a good student, you should be fine. Focus on finding extracurriculars at your public school (a bonus - public schools usually have more offerings in this area than private schools) and maintaining your good grades. Find out if your new high school has an AP or IB program. And please don't pressure your parents. Private school can cost tens of thousands of dollars per year, and they might not be able to afford it right now. Public school doesn't equal the end of your academic future; it will probably open doors that you never knew existed.

Nope. Someone who is barely passing in a private school is not going to have an advantage over a public school student who is doing well.

If there is a statistic that says that private school students get into better colleges - I would say that is because families who can afford to send their kids to private school are more likely to be able to afford to send their kids to colleges and universities that may be out of most families price ranges.

Getting into college depends on your grades, Sat's and planned course of study.

More kids (% wise) from private schools get into Ivy Leagues because those schools have admission standards (public schools must take everyone), and tend to provide better teaching. That being said, if you're talented it doesn't matter to the Ivy's where you went to high school (they're admitting you, not your school).

No, it doesn't. If your local public schools are good, then there is no reason why going to a private school would be any better. I went to public school all my life, and got accepted into every school that I applied to, including Northwestern University. One of my friends, that also went to the same public schools as I did is now attending the University of Chicago.

I wasn't in my view going for the Ivy League once I utilized for faculty this previous twelve months, yet I had many buddies who have been. We attended an rather prestigious public severe college (2400 young ones) the place numerous young ones took 4 or 5 AP instructions out of 6 possible instructions. those young ones made real scores on the ACT, SAT, and have been nationwide advantage scholars. that they had greater curricular activities, volunteer hours, innovations, each and every thing they have been informed to have. And yet i can't enable you be responsive to procedures many qualified scholars have been rejected. Why? collectively as they might have been qualified, yet another pupil someplace else substitute right into slightly greater qualified. Now I enable you be responsive to this to not discourage you, yet to coach you. You sound rather committed on your schoolwork and nicely rounded. it somewhat is sturdy you have traveled lots. actually conversing, i'm uncertain how lots being Indian will enable you to. so lots greater Indians prepare to Ivy Leagues now than formerly. And collectively as Ivy League faculties do not actually "subtract" 50 factors out of your SAT, you're in a majority now, and could want greater suitable than basically the grades to get in. My suggestion may be to locate some different faculties focusing on cardiology as backups in case you do not make it into an Ivy. once you do prepare to the Ivy, be very careful with your essay. it somewhat is the suitable thank you to chop up your self from the group. do not worship the college, yet %. out one or 2 issues you like with reference to the college (a definite application, it somewhat is curriculum, and so on.) and clarify how those courses might enable you to, and the style you're able to provide lower back to the college (do not ignore this 2d area). And maximum heavily interior the faculty technique, do not enable remaining dates get the suitable of you. Getting each and every thing in early will make you look very superb and a much greater suitable pupil than somebody who extremely meets the time decrease. sturdy success!
