I know death is apart of life, but have you ever wondered while reading something that predicts what will happen in the 22nd century or even the latter part of this century (i.e. 2090)... "Wow, I will be dead by then." Isn't that kind of depressing?

As silly as it sounds, I wouldn't mind living forever or at least until 2100. If I lived until 2100, I would be 114 years old. I might have a chance....

I don't know. I would just to see the turn of another century. It would be cool to say "Well.... in the year 2000... wouldn't that be cool if we could tell our descendants history like that? I know I will more than likely be dead by then, but still. And I do appericiate life right now but...

Not at all. (1) The way this world is going, I don't want to stick around and (2) We still might see what they predict a hell of a lot sooner. Walkie-talkies were in the original Buck Rogers novel (Armageddon 2419 A. D.) and we had those by WWII. The cellphones we carry now are smaller than those used on Star Trek (23rd century).
Science fiction is notorious for being both accurate and off the mark. Keep in mind that it is fiction.

2100? We won't even make it past 2032. Didn't you see the science channel that say an asteroid will pass the earth really close in 2028, as close as the satellites orbiting the earth right now, and then will crash into the earth when it swings back in 2032. The crash will kill off the human race like it killed off the dinosaurs. So enjoy it while you still have time.

No it does not make me sad, because according to the doomsayers out there, the world's going to end on 12-21-2012 anyway...now THAT makes me depressed as hell! I've barely begun to live and the flippin' world is going to explode in 5 years - what's the point in doing anything?? Dang!

Um no... unless your like 7, you realize that life is finite! chances are high that none of us will make it to 2100 A.D. but why does that disturb you is 2100 A.D. more important than 2009 A.D. or any other number?
Isn't our calendar date 2007 kind of random? The Chinese calendar is much higher (6000+) I think so the number really isn't relevant to anything! Enjoy what you have and move forward!

Nope if I lived that long I would be almost 200 years old. I will find out what the world was like when I get to met my great grands in the after life.

Yes, it's a little sad knowing I wont be around for the prediction. But then again, with the advances being made in medicine, you never know.

There is no guarantee that one is going to live through the next minute.
I agree that it may be depressing to some. It should not be.

Dear One,
Of course it is sad to think about dying if you're not living for something greater. Our life here on Earth is temporary. It's the spirit that lives on forever and has the greater purpose. Tell me, why are you so sad...are you witout hope?

I'm not sure if I'll be dead by then or not. My family already tends to live to be close to 100 years old. :-)
