I've been making candles from beeswax...very organic and fun! Takes a little bit of work, but not too much (I'm a mom and work full time and I can do it)...the supplies can be bought at Michaels (or any craft store) I've found a lot of what is needed @ wal mart too

also- putting together some foods you have made in baskets is nice (use sauces...dry ingredients of a dessert layered with the recipe included)

hope this helped!

Some easy items that I have made for Christmas presents are... *Bird Houses- Go to your local home improvement store and buy 4-6 or 8" depending on the size you want, clay pots with the saucer. This is usually less than $2.00 for each. With a masonary hole saw cut a hole in the side of the pot, then using a masony bit small, but large enough for twine to go through, drill four holes on the saucer evenly spaced like you have foour corners of a box. Using twine have 4 pieces long in length, tie a knot in one end and place the pot at the knot(like a macrame plant hanger), then place the saucer on top or the pot like a roof and thread the twine through the holes. Make sure you bring the 4 pieces back together and tie a loop for hanging. You can get creative with the knots in the twine or just a simple hanging knot. You can also be creative with painting the pots as well. TOTAL COST $3. each depending on size of pot * Hanging Bird bath- Using just a clay saucer drill holes and run twine or wire through. The saucer sides are a good place for drilling the hole with this one. I made these using 16" clay saucers that were about TOTAL COST $6.00 each * Shell wind chime- Your local 99cent or dollar store should have bags of shells or if you live near the beach that is even better. For the top use a larger shell and drill a hole in the top. Run your twine, wire or fishing line through the hole in the bottom of the pot(now the top)creating a loop for hanging and knot so it will not go through. Make sure you have at least 5-6 pieces running down. drill small holes in the shells and thread through the hanging twine/wire/line. What I found works best is a big shell on one the ecnter string then smaller shells about 3" apart along the outside strings. TOTAL COST $3.00 each *Candle holder- From your dollar store you can buy glass jars or vases. Using glass paints paint a scene on the outside of the glass. I have found the stained glass paints work great for this because the light can shine through the paints. Buy dollar store candles and place inside. TOTAL COST $2.00 each *Cappuccino or hot cocoa in a jar- Again from your dollar store buy jars with lids. You can paint the outside or not. With the lid I used a small amount of batting and covered with a piece of faux suede and guel gunned it in place. Using ribbon I trimmed the edge. I then painted a scen on the glass of a steaming cup of cocoa and then painted the words Hot Cocoa.I then filles the jars TOTAL COST $2.00 each Have Fun and I hope some of these help you out!

How about homemade soaps and bath salts. You could even put together a small basket of homemade bath items with a loofa and maybe a copy of their fav magazine. I would love to receive a gift like that!

Start them an Oregeno plant or some other herb.

Make them a patch blanket. You can use patches from old sweat shirts, soft pants .. we made some before and they are great for the sofa.

How about a small jar and put some home made hot chocolate mix in it.

Cookies and candy is another idea .. put them in a tin with a bow.

The fleece blankits are easy

Get 3 yards of two matching fleece patterns

Lay them down together

Cut 4 inches out of each corner( cutting a squere out of the corners)

Cut into the blankit 4 inches

tie it up simple! Dont tie too tight or it will pucker!

I also think that the dry dip mixes are nice. You can find easy recipes for it.

Don't do soaps or scented things... Lots of ppl are allergic to it!

you can make slippers and blankets, sheets ,pillow cases shower curtains or duvet covers...I like to bake so I'm gonna make Banana nut bread and cookies for people this Christmas. you can also put dry ingredients (layered by color so it makes a pretty design) in a pretty Mason jar and include directions on what else to add like butter and eggs and cooking directions on nice paper and give those out. you can also do this for homemade hot coco or mocha mix (don't forget to add a little bag of marshmallows!)

I like to make christmas ornaments... When I worked retail just the thought of shopping in a store on my days off was out of the question. So I started making Christmas ornaments for my friends/family.. I started buying just plain clear ball ornaments and embelishing them with paints, tinsel/glitter etc.. I then branched out into plaster of paris molded/painted ornaments.. The best ornaments I made were recycled newspaper.. I got an old blender I tore newspaper into shreds.. I added a bit of water to form a pulp... I would then press the pulp into flat sided plastic cookie cutters until the excess water was out.. I would then put them in the microwave to dry... I popped them out of the "molds" and painted the side with the cookie cutter impression... I sprayed the other side with gold spray paint. I also when the paint dried sprayed them with clear acrylic. It was really cute and the ornaments were really lightweight... I also sold them for $5 a set ! Just be sure to use an old blender... You may also find an alternative to spray paint/varnish.. Simply paint with a clear paint.. You could even use glitter... The only thing stopping you is your imagination.... Good luck

Jewelry, purses, embellished tote bags or lunch carriers, Xmas tree skirts, Xmas stockings. I found some bigger beads, some reflect the light, some refract it, and strung them in a straight line, left @ 2 inches of wire to hang them with, beaed that in a circle, stuck the end back down in the beads, and crimped it. I did pink crackle glass hearts with silver and pearl beads, and Xmas colors ones.
For jewelry lessons, go to Michaels.com. My friend buys elastic, and strings the beads on it. She ties it off, puts a drop of superglue on the knot, and quick slides a bead over the knot. You never see the knot again.

You could try knitting.

You could also bake them something nice like Pumpkin Pie or Christmas cookies and decorate them nicely.

Merry Christmas! (a tad early)
