Pay varies a lot depending on the area of the country. You can find salary info here: http://www.asrt.org/media/pdf/research/wss2007/wss07annualcompensation.pdf (look around asrt.org for more info as well)

If you work in a big trauma hospital, chances are you will not be bored. If you work in a podiatrist office, you will probably get quite bored x-raying feet all day.

Besides regular x-rays, which involve everything from the skull to the toes, we also do GI exams (upper GIs, barium enemas, etc.), intravenous pyelograms (IVP), hysterosalpingograms (HSG), portable x-rays in ER/ICU, operating room cases using a machine called a C-arm, etc. etc. etc. Sometimes we even x-ray in the morgue.

You can go on to learn mammography, CT, MRI, interventional radiology, or go to school further and learn ultrasound, nuclear medicine, or radiation therapy.

You can find accredited schools here: http://arrt.org/index.html?content=http://www.arrt.org/nd/listOfSchools.ndm/listSchools&iframe=yes

You're the only one who can answer if it's worth your time.

Email me if you have any more questions, and good luck.

Radiology tech is an overly well spot. I have identified rather a couple of. The discipline is increasing to new machines, past simply X-ray. Now, the ones techs function MRI, CTscan, PET experiment, angiography, and so on. And there are new ones to be invented (at some point quickly the X ray laser...). Nursing is a well discipline, and the nurses are in top call for. I suppose Radiology Tech calls for extra medical research, and a flair going for walks machines and desktops. (the desktops are used to view virtual pictures) Many individuals do not just like the technical aspect, which means that there are fewer radiation techs and the pay is larger. Decide should you just like the technological know-how. If you do, then, I suppose, Radiation Tech is the larger deal (Roy C, former CT Engineer)
