God stopped talking to man when the Ark of the Covenant was removed from the Temple and probably hid by the prophet Jeremiah.
If you look at the inconsistencies of the Christian Bible, it is not clear when Jesus stopped talking. Paul had a few odd letters that really said the whole story was a vision and that Jesus never existed on this plane in the flesh.
Probably the last folk to talk to god were what is known as the Qumran Essene sect - have a look at the Dead Sea Scrolls for some interesting look-sees.
Your thoughts speak to the Universe (God) everyday. Unfortunately, most humans let the bad sh-t overwhelm them and then draw more bad news due to the law of attraction with their thoughts. They are looking in the wrong space for answers. The bible addresses the time in which it was written. Not now.
The truth believed becomes a lie. You can't freeze the truth because it is always changing. So, therefore there is a problem with any bible in the world.
Short answer, we can talk to god (the Universe); we can not pick up a frequency, so reply does not manifest as verbal, it is external just as we create reality on a daily basis with our thoughts, the Universe (God) obliges by making the reality fit.
Read "The Secret" for a totally different take on God/Universe.

You have made some good points but there are a few things to consider. First, the Bible is not a single unit. It is a collection of different works. Some of these are allegories, stories that, at the time, were not intended to be taken literally. Think of these as ancient “Left Behind” types of works. Some are poems. Some (only in the New Testament) are letters from Bob the priest to the local church in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Others, are supposed to be “histories”. In the case of the histories it may well be that some of these ancient people were insane, we don’t really know. It could also be that between the time the story was told for the first time and someone bothered to write it down it was “embellished” and changed – or even mistranslated. I have often thought that one of the events that may be a recorded case of insanity is the story of Abraham almost sacrificing his son. It reminds me very much of modern cases of parents who have killed their children after being told to do so by “God”.

Well, there's another possibility: they were ALWAYS insane, including the ones back then; it's just that the level of ignorance of the common people was high enough that they'd be superstitious and stupid enough to believe the psychos.
I wish I could say that's changed more than the iota it has.

God has not stopped talking and people are just not asking or listening. I talk to God and I am not insane for doing so. I find great comfort and relief in my conversations with Him. It is all what one decides about it all.

The thing that I have noticed is that the Big Guy has really good manners and never raises his voice and the World has really lousy manners and yells all the time.
