Do you have a PC running Windows (any version)? If so, here are some instructions:
Go to the Start menu and click on Control Panel
Choose the User Accounts category, then click User Accounts
There should be options for setting or changing passwords in the window that pops up.
If you haven't created any users, choose Create a new account under User Accounts.

It depends upon what Operating System you are using. If you have Windows XP, go to Settings on the Start Menu. Click open the control panel, then user accounts. Next click "Change the Way Users Log On and Off." Now if there is a check mark in the little box in front of "Use the Welcome Screen," uncheck it. Then click apply options. Give yourself a user name and a password and you are done. ONE VERY IMPORTANT WARNING!. Write down the user name and password and put it in a very safe spot just in case you forget it. If you forget your user name in particular, you will have a hell of a time, logging back on to your computer.

one way is to put a password in your BIOS settings. To do that, restart your computer, and tap F2 until the BIOS settings come up. Then go to the security tab, and add your password. Or you can make your account password protected. Go to control panel, then user settings. Select your account, and click add password.
Hope this helps

do you have to log into your computer when you start it?
If you dont, go under your start menu and under that you will see the words log off - then you can create a password for your computer. So everytime you start your computer up [or log in] you just type in your password and shazzam.
If 'log off' isnt in the start menu - find shut down and choose what you want to do - if any questions email me -
My email is on my page :)
