Everytime I try to join a Call of Duty 4 Multiplayer game (PC) it has it waits for the connection and then after 10 seconds or so tells me an "error server timed out"
anyone else getting this issue? Anything i can do to get it to work?

Must be your internet, are u on wireless? Maybe if your wireless, your signal is too shyty, other than that...I dunno. If it is the signal, then move your router closer to your computer, or use a Ethernet cable. You can also try to unplug router, restart computer, then plug the router back in. Check your cables make sure they are connected properly.

I'm having the same problem. Although I was able to connect 3 or 4 times last night, most of the connections I started timed out. I'm hoping that somewhere in a config file you can set the length of time it waits for a response, because when i used to play cod2 i rarely connected to a server in less than 10 seconds. i find it hard to believe they would hard code something like that, because obviously some people are going to have longer connection times than 10 seconds depending on your ISP and your router etc, etc. And I've also seen this comment popping up on some forums, so i think its pretty widespread, so their should be a solution soon.

You need to remember that there are a couple other thousand people trying to connect to that same server that you are.
So it's possible that it's just being overloaded, or that even though it said that the game wasnt full, someone else managed to get in before you.
I was having the same problem to, so I just scrolled down and went into the servers that were only half full and I got it.

Same thing is happening to me.
I have a cable modem (no wireless)
I turned off all firewalls.
I've been able to join one game, but that's it.
It seems like a crap shoot trying to play multiplayer.

ive had the same problem. i played fine yesterday and the day before. but now it counts to ten and says server connection error or something like that.

if you type in cl_connectionattempts 999 then it will not cut off and error [and will continue to count up the awaiting connection]
pretty mucha combination of that and keep using /reconnect until it finally decisdes to connect is all you can do.

ur computer might not b upto date with COD4 or the game is so good that i just didnt want u to play jk but make sure u have all the requirments for the game and a nice clean computer
