I agree. Times have changed and so should their pay. Now, with computer downloads, DVD's etc...their craft is being used in more than one arena. They are the true backbones of that industry!

Yes, writers should get paid more. Without them, no entertainment as we know it can really exist. This strike could impact so much more than we even know all the way down to what we wouldn't expect it to.
First television, then advertisement, then movies, then radio, then music, then Internet, then books, then magazines and newspapers, etc.
Just as musicians get royalties from Internet sales of their songs, so should writers (not just actors/actresses) get royalties from Internet sales of the shows they wrote scripts for.
It would be a good idea for those who write scripts and aren't in the business yet to try to get their feet in the door provided they aren't part of the union and it would be a good idea to consider not using unions.
I have always known there were writers for my favorite shows. I don't have that many programs that I watch but most of the ones I do watch will be impacted eventually which burns for me because I don't have that many to begin with.
If it lasts too long and my shows get taken off and some junky non-realistic "reality" show in its place, I'll just resort to watching DVDs of old movies or something or reading books or listening to music or something else.
But, this strike could affect the movie industry next and goodness knows what else.
Compared with the last time, we are more reliant on television than we were then so this one has had the most effect.

I agree that it sucks! If they are on strike that means the actors are going to be out of a job as well and then that means no TV for us!! I am a huge TV watcher and this scares me! The last strike they had was in 1988 and it lasted 22 weeks and cost the entertainment industry about 500 million dollars!! I hope that doesn't happen!

If it were not for the writers there would not be anything for the directors to direct or the actors to act or the advertisers to pay for. Why can the stars get the royalties but not the people who give them jobs??????? Too many people "star struck"

I think so too. With what some of these TV stars n movie stars make the studio's can afford to pay htem what they want. Charlie Sheen gets paid $350,000.00 per episode. Pay them what they asked and get back to work.

I think that if a union goes on strike, everyone in the union should be immediately fired.
Unions = Communism

I believe that writers should be paid what they deserve. I always assumed that they were getting backend money on dvd and internet sales. The studios are just plain greedy.

Yes, we should not have to be made to suffer because they don't want to pay more money. Or, maybe they should realize they are paid much much more than the average person who does actual labor and stop complaining.

I just hope this won't last long. There are some more awesome movies that need scripts to be written.
