We want to repair the guttering in about a 3 metre section but it's where the powerlines connect to the house. How do we do this safely?

The utility company can come out and turn off power at the transformer for you, they will usually do this at no cost. Just be sure you have everything you need to fix it right then, so they only need to make one trip. If you are ready to work on it while they are there, they usually don't mind waiting a few minutes... but only a few minutes... that's why it's important to have everything you need, and be ready to work when they show up.

And of course, you can always hire the work out to someone else. Most contractors have the equipment and sense to work around the power lines without any trouble, hehe.

Good Luck

Listen to both above answers!! The Wrangler has a great idea and I think he is probably right about the guys waiting a little while, especially if you are nice to them and have some cold drinks and/or snacks for them while they wait.

Hire a licensed contractor. Caution ! The life you may be saving, may be your own !!!

i would just work away from the lines and be careful not to get tangled in them. that's just how i do stuff though.....if that's not you, by all means, SAFETY FIRST!
