The story goes.... a woman developed blood clots and died because she was taking Lybrel - a birth control pill that limits periods to 3 per year.

There is nothing wrong with limiting ur cycles...in fact its helpful for ppl that have heavy and often periods which can lead to other health problems. As already said...clotting is a factor with any pill...depending on the person.

On ANY form of birth control there is a risk of blood clots, not just Lybrel.

A woman can develop blood clots on any form of birth control pill, it is a known risk of increased hormones... ( esp. DVT's ) it has nothing to do with having only a few periods a year

Yes, it is perfectly healthy to stop your periods and in some cases (like mine) it is actually healthier to NOT have a period than to have one, as menstruation causes iron fluctuations which can lead to anemia.
