The roman numerals give it a classic look to the game! It's a lot better then calling it the "Coors Light presents the 42nd annual NFL Super Bowl Championship game powered by GMC."
To answer your question, you are probably the only guy who wishes that they never stared naming Super Bowls with Roman Numerals.

Roman numerals serve two purposes:
one it gave a "regal" look to Super Bowl III. They like the way it looked and went forward with it.
two. they didn't want the game to have a year next to it because the season stretched from one year to the next and the thought was it would confuse people. i.e. Super Bowl 2008 would actually be the championship of the 2007 season.

Don't you understand the Super Bowl is for the meeting of the gladiators just like in Rome; the best of the best. So to add a little pizzazz to the function the first carried a roman numeral which has continued to this day and ad infinitum.

Why doesn't the NBA number their Championships? I mean MLB it is fine to use the year because they are the ONLY sport to start and end in the same year. As to the NHL you usually just hear it is the Stanley Cup champion, the year is left off. The NFL had enough sense to NUMBER THE CHAMPIONSHIP when they started the Superbowl. That was because the season starts one year and ends the next. Then the game is so big they can get away with using Roman Numerals. BTW there is no XXL(that would be XXX because XXL would technically be 50-20).

Roman numerals look better than our everyday Arabic numerals.
Which looks better?
30
XXX
I'd choose XXX.
Not for everyday use, of course. Figuring out which one goes in front of the other can leave some confused, because if you don't do it right, then you could come up with a totally different value.

Personally, I wish the NFL would stop calling it the Super Bowl. You'd be surprised that there are thousands of people out there that aren't aware that there are 46 previous NFL championships prior to the Packers-Chiefs matchup in Super Bowl 1.

I like it. Just looks right. I have no problem with the numerals so that might be part of the reason I like them.

it really is kinda silly and i never remember the bowls by their number, just the teams that played and who won.
BUT what's worse is the coorporate naming of stadiums. i just know what city the teams play in. so it's eagles stadium. or where the giants play, or red wings arena. i don't know and don't care what the actual name of the venue is.
