The first thing you need to understand is that workplaces can set just about any rules they want. Your only choice is whether to work there or not. If your boss doesn't like it, don't do it. And sure, it offends a lot of people. Maybe you need some anger management classes.

Actualy most people figure the expression "oh my god" as being a sort of short prayer, so its exempt. But then again I dont really understand whats so offensive in the first place. In the work place that doesnt matter thou, because guys usually dont understand why we dont want to hear about who they 'did' last night, and I still dont want to hear it. So I think its better just to try and appreciate everyones feelings.
