I want a beard and I was wondering how long it takes peach fuzz to turn into the prickly terminal hairs. I have soft peach fuzz hairs as long as 3/8 of an inch in my mustache area, and longer than 1/4 of an inch where sideburns grow. All the hairs are dark already and long but how long does it take for them to thicken? Please give estimated times (guys only probably unless you are a girl that happens to know)

Thank You for taking the time to read and respond to my question.

my fuzz turned to real hair pretty quick, just a few months, but my buds seems to be taking forever. He's 18 and still mostly fuzz on his mustache and chin.

It depends on a number of factors among which are race (Native Americans, for example), family history, and age. The pituitary gland "kicks in" at different times in different people. Look at boys between 12 and 14. Some are tall with deep voices and beards. Others are shorter, still sing in the boy's choir, and have peach fuzz.

Again, it depends on a number of factors. I know some men who are in their 40's and still can not grow a proper beard or mustache.
