I abbreviate reading A LOT, so I use either Rd or just R, depending on the context. I don't think there is a formal abbreviation for reading.

If you mean Reading Railroad, the official abbreviation is RDG.

If you mean the word as in "she is reading a book" there is no abbreviation.
