Some of the channels are kind of scrambled and makes that awful scratching sound. It's not the satellite and the cables are correct. How do I fix this? It's annoying and the customer service people are useless. I'm calling on all you Yahoo! Answerers to help me, please!

Thanks

Thanks but it's already on the correct channel (it was working fine before) and the signal is fine. It's just that some channels work and others are plain crap. Perhaps the receiver is bad?

Did you check the test signal coming in off the satellite, like you use for set-up (or is that what you meant by "it's not the satellite)?

Also (this might seem kind of obvious, but I used to work in cable TV service), make sure your TV is on the correct channel - usually channel 3. Does your receiver have a channel output selector switch? Make sure it's on the same channel as your TV tuner.

there isnt anything wrong with Directv's reception. First lets start at the beginning. Go to the dish and see if anything is in its path of the sky....check the mulitswitch and check all the connections. Dissconnect all the cables and check the ends to look for damage and inspect the cable coating itself. Reconnect the cables to the multiswitch....do this again at the receiver. Im not sure what reciever you have but run the setup again and make sure you have selected the correct dish you have 3lnb or 5lnb...

if all of this looks fine more than likely there is an issue with your reciever. there are times that directv will work with you with this and send you a replacement unless you have the HD-DVR...I hope this helped.
